Dear prospective Employer:
today I am sending this resume to you hoping you may be
interested in hiring me on a permanent basis. I wish to relocate
to the United States and work in and for the technically
sophisticated society with a broad approach to computer and
computer-related use.
On the two-page resume you will find an overview of my skills,
work history and achievements, and personal data. If you wish to
receive more detailed information I will be happy to send copies
of examinations, certifications and evaluation results; also a
detailed list of all major projects with technical data can be
presented. You may receive a detailed curriculum vitae (C.V.),
too.
During the last seven years I have been often to California
(more than a dozen times to Los Angeles and San Franciso) and
made myself comfortable with the US lifestyle in order to adapt
to customers. In addition I visited the SCO Forum in Santa Cruz
for the last three years to meet people from the unix community
all over the world.
Besides technical skills and qualifications I hold a Californian
driver's license class C and M1 since 1987, maintain a mail
forwarding address in Los Angeles and purchased a cellular phone
and service in 1992. I am also familiar with other aspects of US
business life so you can expect a minimum time to adapt.
If you are interested in an interview I will be happy to see you
immediately. Please fax to Germany ++ 49 - 251 - 279653 (country
- area - fax) or send e-mail to thomasj@tjack.de
OBJECTIVE
A challenging position to utilize skills in technical oriented
SALES and / or SUPPORT of SCO Unix and Novell NetWare and
related products.
SUMMARY
Experienced (6+ years) in consulting, sales, installation, and
support for:
- Santa Cruz Operation's Products (SCO Advanced Certified
Engineer -ACE-)
(Xenix, Unix, Open Desktop, Networking)
- Novell NetWare (Novell Certified NetWare Engineer -CNE-)
(Versions 2.0a through 4.x; other Novell products)
WORK HISTORY & ACHIEVEMENTS
Since 1987 to present I worked as a contractor
- for several companies, i.e. computer firms which buy my
services to enforce their sales and support personnel and
- for corporate end-users providing advice and help for computer
and network use, installation and support for computer systems in all
locations, training of the employees.
During these years I sold and installed a large number of
systems and networks on a wide range of network nodes. Besides
the SCO-Unix, Univel UnixWare and Novell NetWare (including
DOS/Windows) operating systems I installed and supported on a
broad scale of hardware, including brand names like AST, ALR and
NCR systems, so-called 'clones' and a broad range of peripherals
(graphics solutions -GUI- including X11 client/server; multi I/O
boards and terminal servers; terminals/PC clients; printers;
communication devices i.e. modems/X.25 packet switching/dedicated
lines; network hardware).
By providing all network design and installation I helped to
develop a Unix based hospital computer system granting digital
access to X-ray and other data stored on microfilm without loss
of graphical data. After two years this project done with
Deutsches Microfilm Institut (DMI) in Muenster was introduced as
world premiere in 1991 at InterHospital in Duesseldorf, Germany.
Participation of the SCO Forum in Santa Cruz in 1991, 1992 and
1993 broadened my view of Open Systems and helped to
understand the US market.
National and international travelling has always been part of my
work.
EDUCATION
- Westfaelische Wilhelms-Universitt, Muenster, Germany
studied economics, law, and computer science for several semesters,
resulting in the equivalent of a Bachelor's Degree in Computer
Science
(as shown by evaluation service by California State Authorities)
- Advanced Certified Engineer for SCO products (ACE)
(a DRAKE program by the Santa Cruz Operation, Santa Cruz, CA)
- Certified Netware Engineer for Novell products (CNE)
(a DRAKE program by Novell Inc., Provo, Utah)
Languages:
- german (perfect, mothertongue)
- english (perfect)
- french (basic knowledge)
- spanish (just started to learn)
Personality:
Born in 1962 and now 31 years old I am a quick learner and wish
to gain and develop more skills. I am used to work with little
supervision and can also work very well in a team. Also I am an
easy communicator and like to work with users/clients on all
levels (with professional manner and appearance). I am open to
accept responsibility for projects and personnel.
Other Interests:
The Internet and other network communication are challenging to
me. I participated in building and maintaining german networks
like the SubNetz e.V. (*.sub.org) and actively use UseNet /
Internet since the mid-eighties. I built network access servers
through Unix UUCP, CompuServe and other gateways and helped
users to get the most out of it.
Citizenship/Visa:
With my German citizenship some visa sponsoring for the H-1
program will be necessary. A San Jose lawyer specializing in
this field is currently processing my education evaluation; he
may help with visa processing if no other source handles this
issue (i.e. company legal counsel).
Salary Expectation/Availability:
A starting salary of about US$60.000+ per year with the option
to increase on the job. I am available immediately for an
interview; for relocation as soon as possible (or as soon as the
H-1 visa is granted).
